Booking Information

Trip Booking Information

  • Private trip bookings are most easily made by using the Contact page or give us a call at 403.819.9926. Since we mostly accommodate private bookings, we prefer to get in touch to build your dream trip. We’re always happy to chat about your future adventures.

  • Booking a trip more than 30 days in advance requires a 25% deposit to secure the dates. Full balance is due no later than 30 days prior to the first day of the trip. Bookings within 30 days of departure require full payment at time of booking.

Gear list

  • Excellent gear lists are available on the ACMG website.

  • Please get in touch with any questions regarding equipment. Most equipment is available to loan from Guide the Rockies, or to rent from places in Canmore like Gear Up or Ski Uphill

Pricing

  • All prices listed on the website are in Canadian Dollars. Prices exclude 5% sales tax (GST). Prices listed for private objectives are for a 1:1, guest:guide ratio. Additional persons can be added for $75-$150 per day on most, but not all, objectives. To maintain a high degree of safety during our days, multipitch rock and ice routes and many technical alpine objectives are limited to a 2:1, guest-to-guide ratio. Some highly technical objectives might be limited to a 1:1 ratio.

  • Listed prices include all guiding fees and all technical group equipment.

  • Basic climbing equipment (helmet, harness, crampons (winter only), ice tools (winter only)) is available and included in your day. Most other gear list items (shell jackets, pack, gloves, down parka) are available for rent for a nominal fee.

  • Additional equipment that may be required can be rented in town, most notably alpine boots (ice climbing and summer alpine trips) and rock climbing shoes.

  • In addition to the website listed price, additional costs might be incurred for your trip, based on such factors as additional participants, commitment and risk, accommodations, food or travel. If Guide the Rockies is charging you any additional costs associated with your proposed trip, these costs will be made clear at time of booking.

  • Surcharges apply on larger climbing objectives with higher levels of commitment and risk, or significantly longer days. This will be made clear at time of booking. Similarly, these objectives are sometimes limited to a 1:1 guest:guide ratio.

  • Payment can be made via e-transfer (Canada only), cheque, cash or credit card (small additional fee).

Waiver

  • Before departure on any trips, all participants must read, understand and sign our Waiver and Release of Liability form. Please view this waiver here. An identical waiver will be presented, discussed and signed before departure. The waiver discusses some, but not all, hazards that could be encountered on our trips. Even after signing the waiver, guests of Guide the Rockies are not committed to joining the trip and reasonable accommodations will be made to refund part or all of the fees paid. By signing this waiver, you waive some rights including the right to sue due to negligence, includes the failure by the Releasees to use such care as a reasonably prudent and careful mountain guide/instructor would use under similar circumstances, or breach of any other duty of care imposed by law. All mountain activities carry some inherent risks and hazards. Guide the Rockies guides are certified to the highest Canadian standards in mountain guiding through the ACMG (Association of Canadian Mountain Guides). Please reach out if you have any questions regarding the waiver, our stringent level of certification or the hazards and risks potentially encountered on your proposed trip.

Mountain weather and conditions

  • Mountain conditions vary constantly, thus often affecting our plans in the mountains. Together with weather, they might prevent us from attaining our plan A objective. Guide the Rockies will work diligently to provide you with a safe and enjoyable trip within the conditions we will encounter. We rarely cancel trips, however, we would refund or credit the guests immediately if Guide the Rockies cancels a trip. For other cancellations, please see our policy below.

Trip insurance

  • Guide the Rockies recommends purchasing trip cancellation/interruption insurance to cover the services provided by Guide the Rockies. We recommend TuGo, who offers various trip cancellation insurance options through the Alpine Club of Canada (ACC). Please find more information on the Alpine Club of Canada website. Guide the Rockies is not affiliated with TuGo or the ACC.

  • Trip cancellation or interruption insurance is the best way to cover yourself against unforeseen changes to your itinerary. If a refund is requested from Guide the Rockies, our refund policy is listed below.

  • Guest cancellations with more than 30 days notice will be refunded their deposit less $100 booking fee.

  • Guest cancellations with more than 15 days notice will be refunded their trip less 25% deposit.

  • Guest cancellations with less than 15 days notice will not be refunded for their trip.
